צְוֵי

צְוֵיII, צְוָא, צְוָה (v. S. Sm. 3370) (to contract,) to be hot, dry up, wither. Pes.56a צָאוֵי לאלתר ed. (Ar. צָוֵוי) it will at once dry up. Ib. 110b פקא וצווא דיקלא Ar. (ed. צווח דיקלא ופקע הוא, Ms. M. צְוָה) the bark burst, and the palm dried up. Ib. 111a וצְווּ כרעיה his legs shrivelled. Pa. צַוֵּי to burn, desiccate. B. Bath.24b bot. דאזיל ומְצַוֵּי ליה … the dust penetrates its heart and desiccates it (the plant).
